The Concept

The Mill is open for private & corporate events, creative retreats and residencies in peaceful surroundings on the banks of the River Thames. The estate offers rural relaxation with urban comforts. Free high-speed Wifi is available in both barns. We encourage residents to use it judiciously to fully appreciate a week in a peaceful and unique environment.

Cotswolds Mill offers a restricted number of subsidized retreats for a variety of interest groups looking for a location to listen to others and develop fresh and inspiring approaches to old problems. We have hosted a young writers residency, a religious study group, and a workshop on international aid. We have also convened gatherings of experts on the Middle East and a group of conflict resolution activists.

We welcome applications from individuals and groups looking for a safe and welcoming space to approach creative brainstorming or challenging issues.

The Cotswold Mill and its surroundings

Escape the hardship of writing, ruminate and walk through quintessential England. Indulge in walks and runs along the Thames Path or Cotswolds Way. Dip in the Thames, or play table-tennis, football or croquet.

Bring a bike and cycle along the many quiet lanes. The Tavern, the Potting Shed, and the Bakers’ Arms are all a pleasant stroll over the fields.

The historic market town of Cirencester often referred to as the capital of the Cotswolds, is about three miles away.

Sometime after Londinum, Corinium Dobunnorum (the Cirencester of old) became the capital of Roman Britain and fine Roman villas dot the hills nearby. Farmers still bring their produce to market every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.

The haunting shell of Benedictine Abbey towers over Malmesbury town almost six centuries after its dissolution. William Morris considered Bibury, a short drive north, the most beautiful village in England. Or head to the waterparks for water-skiing, paint-balling and in the summer a beach.
